Functions and effects of Beauveria bassiana:

When applied by spraying in the field, a large number of conidiospores of Beauveria bassiana primarily come into contact with the insect body, in addition to entering the insect body through spiracles or mouthparts. Under certain temperature and humidity conditions, the spores absorb water, swell, and germinate to produce germ tubes, which penetrate into the insect body, directly causing pest infection. Therefore, Beauveria bassiana has a contact-killing effect, making it highly effective for controlling piercing-sucking pests and underground pests.

Beauveria bassiana can infect not only larvae, pupae, adults, and other life stages of insects but also uses infected insects as pathogens to spread to other pests, forming epidemics under suitable conditions. This creates a sustained pest control effect where a single application can be effective for multiple years. The process of pest control by Beauveria bassiana involves one life form replacing another, which is less likely to induce pest resistance. Continuous use over successive years can lead to increasingly improved control efficacy.

Uses and dose:

1. Foliar spray: 3-7.5kg/ha, tank mixed with spray adjuvant.

2. Blend with soil (1: 10) for basal application and side dress to control soil borne pests.

Storage and Precautions: 

1. Store in a dry place below 20℃, with a shelf life of six months.

2. Toxic to silkworms.

3. Optimal application conditions: apply when temperature is 15–30℃ and environment humidity is 80% - 100%. The best timing is during high humidity, after rain, or cloudy days to significantly improve control efficacy. Generally, use on cloudy days, after rain, or in the morning/evening when humidity is high.

4. Apply immediately after preparation.

5. For most pests, apply Beauveria bassiana during the peak hatching period. For pine caterpillars, apply at the early 3rd instar stage of larvae.

6. It is suggested to use Beauveria bassiana with reduced dose of chemical pesticides where there is high pest population.
